Tagra cellulose microcapsules under the microscope

CelluCap™ Resveratrol encapsulates resveratrol in a cellulose shell: 53.8% retained after 4h sunlight vs 7.3% free, with clinically reduced wrinkles.

Stabilized Active Resveratrol

A Powerful Antioxidant, Stabilized

Resveratrol is a powerful ingredient with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and strong antioxidant properties. Research shows it can prevent skin damage and improve firmness, elasticity, and density. However, its full potential has been limited by significant formulation challenges.

Being insoluble in water, resveratrol requires organic solvents or oils for dissolution, complicating formulation processes. Additionally, resveratrol is highly unstable; exposure to light and high pH conditions causes trans-resveratrol to degrade into the less active cis-form. This instability shortens its efficacy in topical formulations and often results in discoloration.

Formulating with CelluCap™ Resveratrol

Tagra offers an innovative solution to the challenges of formulating with resveratrol by encapsulating it within a cellulose-based shell. This advanced technology effectively stabilizes the ingredient, prolonging its antioxidant activity while preventing discoloration and recrystallization.

Clinically tested, CelluCap™ Resveratrol preserves the potency and efficacy of resveratrol, enabling its full potential to be realized in cosmetic formulations.

The Powerful Effect of CelluCap™ Resveratrol

Photo-stability tests show that encapsulated resveratrol significantly outperforms free resveratrol in maintaining stability. After 4 hours of sunlight exposure, encapsulated resveratrol retained 53.8% of its initial content, compared to just 7.3% for the free form.

Encapsulation also minimized UV-induced trans-cis isomerization, preserving over 50% of the original trans isomer. This technology ensures superior UV protection and stability, maximizing resveratrol's efficacy in formulations.

Clinical Results

An open, intra-individual study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Tagra Lotion containing 5% CelluCap™ Resveratrol (equivalent to 0.7% free resveratrol) as the sole active ingredient. Each subject served as their own control, with key parameters (Rz, average relief; Rt, maximum relief amplitude; and R0, cutaneous firmness) measured using the 3D Primos Lite System and Cutometer before and after 28 days of twice-daily use.

The results showed a significant decrease in Rz and Rt values, indicating smoother, less wrinkled skin, and confirming the product's anti-wrinkle efficacy. Most subjects experienced visibly reduced wrinkles, as demonstrated by the 3D measurements, highlighting the powerful effects of CelluCap™ Resveratrol in improving skin texture and firmness.
