SunCaps™ encapsulate organic and mineral UV filters in cellulose shells for photostability, low skin penetration and 20-30% higher in-vivo SPF.
Keeping Skin UV Filter-Free
Tagra's SunCaps™ range introduces advanced microencapsulation technology for UV filters, designed to improve photostability and reduce the risk of skin penetration. This innovative approach offers superior performance and safety compared to traditional non-encapsulated formulations.
Unbreakable and transparent, SunCaps™ microencapsulation technology enables UV filters to remain on the skin's surface, resulting in sunscreens that are more transparent, comfortable, and effective. The innovative single-layer, cellulose-based polymer shell isolates the UV filter, safeguarding it from degradation while preserving its UV protection properties. This ensures enhanced safety, performance, and user experience.
Tagra's SunCaps™ microencapsulation technology offers a breakthrough in sunscreen safety and efficacy by significantly reducing the penetration of organic UV filters into the skin, enhancing overall product safety.
The technology has been proven non-irritating through a 14-day Cumulative Irritation Test (CIT). Additionally, in-vivo SPF measurements demonstrated a 20-30% increase in SPF efficacy compared to the theoretical calculated SPF of non-encapsulated UV filters at the same concentration. These findings confirm that SunCaps™ technology is the ideal solution for creating superior organic UV filter-based sunscreens with minimized toxicological risks.
Create new combinations of sun filters that were previously incompatible, and develop formulations with enhanced sensorial experiences.

Formulation Guidelines
SunCaps™ are gradually added at the last stage of formulation preparation, using a homogenizer.
Incorporation should be done at temperatures up to 80°C.
SunCaps™ can be used in hot pour processes during the cooling stage and can resist high temperatures of 80°C–90°C.
When formulating with SunCaps™ there is no need to use high concentrations of UV filter solubilizers.
